March 29th 2009

Dear Mother,

Mom, I love your letters. I don't even need to be at home to know what is going on. They are very informative. I feel like i am not missing a thing. Thank you, it helps me to jsut focus on my mission and that's proabably why I haven't been homesick. sister kocaj is doing very well. We had another sister missionary named sister goddard come into our companionship. she is about to go home. her compaion got her appendix taken out and was put with a senior companoin. so sister goddard was put here. it is really great being in a threesome. it is so powerful. and it is good for sister kocaj to see two examples of missionaries and to get the support you need when you frist come into the field.

We are no longer teaching jackie. her boyfriend has dropped us for her. it is sad to see such amazing people and then through various circumstances see them turn away. but who knows what will happen in the future. It has given us the opportunity to really do some finding which i love more than anything. if ever i feel down at all all i have to do is to go out and testify to as many people as possible and i just beam. it is good for sister kocaj becuase new missionaries are always hesitant at first and this is giving her the opportunity to find and gain some concfidence.

Well, i am so excited for conference. i just can't stop thinking about it. I just know that something amazing will happen or be said. It always is. And it is good to be on a mission during this time of year. i lvoe being a missionary. welll, i lvoe you too.

March 22, 2009

Dear Mom,

I love you mom. I am glad to hear about your calling and the family. This week has been a good week. We have 3 people dated for baptism. The first we met last sunday. His name is Ryan. And he is from zimbabwe. he is the most humble man I have ever met. He called us the next day to make sure we were coming. We did and the spirit was so strong we committed him to be baptized. the next lesson it was overpowing and all i said was how do you feel after watching the restoration dvd. he said he felt the spirit and i dated him for baptizm two weeks away. he is so amzing. we have seen him pretty much every day this past week and he keeps saying he is finding hidden treasures.

The other girl is named jackie. she is 19. we had taught her the first lesson and the next lesson she told us she had given up everything againsst the word of wisdom. we hadn't even taught her yet. then we pulled out some plan of salvation pictures and she taught us it. she just knew it. the spirit was so powerful that all i did was bear testimony of the reality of the restored gospel and she accepted an invittaion to be baptized on the 11th of april.

Today we went to clithero and downham and chatburn. it is where the early missionaries went and baptized hundreds. also, prophets and apostles before the restoration. The spirit was so strong i felt like I was in heaven. We are having an amazing week. I fasted long and hard for miracels to happen and they are. Mom, love you and I will talk to you next week.

Letter From Rachel to her Mother Wednesday the 9th of March 2009

Dear Mother,

I just got your email. I am actually emailing right now. That was a cool email. I wish I could have been there. My mind is just now going crazy with a million thoughts. I have had some pretty unusaul things happen to me on my mission and I have the Lord has been very merciful to me with the amount of growth and knowledge that I have obtained through study, talking with prominent members of the church and personal revelation. And something that you said in your email jsut hit me so forcefully I almost started crying. But I will see waht happens. Mom I don't have long today. My computer is rubbish and I never have the time to write anybody. But I just want to share wtih you my testimony of this gospel. Mom, I know that god lives. He is my god and my father. I know more importantly that he loves and he trusts me and that is why he has sent me to england. to assist in carrying forth his work and gathering his elect. I have had much success here and it is not me. The Lord has been so merciful to me and has used me as an instrument in his hands to assist in thuis great gathering. I absolutley know that joseph smith saw what he said he did in that sacred grove in 1820. God and jesus christ did appear to him and restore what is the greatest message and work that this world has ever seen. I have the opportunity to bear my testimony each day, but I hold it to me closley it is the most precious thing I have. I will never forsake or abandon my lord. He has done so much for me and their is nothing that i woudl not suffer or go through in retrurn and for the blessing of being in his presence for eternity. That is the only thing i want, I want to go home. Mom, I would encourage you to do everything in your power to bring your family to the gospel. david and others. this is no small thing. If we do not do this we will not be wtih those people. they will not have eternal life. this life is so short. do not fear the advesary or being mocked or having someone be offended. they will bless your name for eternity as they in turn recieve the blessings of eternal life. mom I lvoe you and I admire and respect the woman that you are. you have always had strong faith. tell the family that i lvoe them and encourage them to do the same. i love you , love your daughter

Thank You Everyone

Letter from Rachel to Family Wednesday February 25th 2009

Dear family,

I don't have long at all this week and I have a lot to say. So I will just write a long email to all of you this week. So last wednesday I had an amazing, but terrifying experience. Our house was full of wet paint by the end of our P-day so we couldn't leave our flat becuase our doors were wet too. so we did member exchanges and me and a member named beckie went to go teach our two appointments that night while sister Gilbert stayed home with a member. Anyways, the first lesson we tuaght was just amzing the spirit was so powerful. We taught about eternal marriage to a recent convert named wumi. So we were on a proper spiritual high as we drove to our next appointment. When we got there we decided to just have a testimony meeting with this recent convert named gemma. Well, we did and beckie started and she just bore a powerful testimony. it was strange though, their was a very bad spirit in the room and we could both feel it and it was so present you could almost see the fight between good and bad. Then we asked gemma to bear her testimony and she did, but she didn't it was really creepy actually, so then I bore my testimony and it was by far the most powerful testimony i have ever born. So we quickly left afterward and we got in beckies car which is brand new and it wouldn't go. It started it just wouldn't go, and all of a sudden we both just got the overwhelming feeling that there was something bad in the car with us. There is no doubt in either of our minds that there was a bad spirit there. so we said a prayer and walked to our flat. That night beckie had to get her car towed home, and the next morning it worked perfect. I don't think it was a coincidence. The next day president and sister bullock came and did a personal flat inspection with the assistants to the president. That went really well.

And of course this weekend was my birthday. I went to Beckie's home for tea and her and gemma got me a football jersey with sister coleman printed on the back and beckie got me a nice copy of the lectures on faith by joseph smith. It was really fun. I had a pink princess cake and it really tasted pink. That night when beckie took us home we walked in the house and the whole thing was rank with gas. We had to call the gas company and have them come out. And it turned out to be our boiler. so they had to turn it off. It is funny how many things have happened good and bad.

This week has just been amazing. Last week all of our investigators dropped us, except one and now he is dated for baptism. And we have loads of new investigators. And today was just a really cool day. We went to the temple with our district and the zone leaders adn it was good. So then me and sister gilbert and beckie went on a church history tour all over preston. It was the best ever. We went the house on fox st where the legions of demons attacked heber c. kimball and just randomly the owner was their and started talking to us so i asked him if we could see inside. He gave us a personal tour of the inside. it was so cool it was in its original condition and we got to walk all around. then he gave me his number and said if i wanted to come back again i could ring him and he would show us around. No one ever gets to do that. it was so cool. then me and beckie raced across the big lawn we had a foot race to the river ribble to see who would be baptized first. She won. and then we went to president hinkleys house and we met the owners there too. It was an amazing day and week. Whenever something bad happens something good alwasy comes.

Our new investigators our amazing. They are what you would call golden investigators. this week is transfers though and I think i will be going. So i guess we will see. I love you and I am glad that all of you are doing so well.

love, sister coleman

I Love You

Letter From Rachel to her Mother Wedesday February 18th 2009

Dear Mother,

Unforntunatly, we won't have a baptism this weekend. Mercy our investigator told us the other day that she had post natal depression and that she had drank that morning. And then over the weekend she went out of town to a friends house in Rugby. We haven't been able to see her yet. But I have faith. I know that she will be baptized, but not this weekend. People have to give up everything against the word of wisdom and law of chastity for 10 days before they can be baptized. But everything is still going good.

President Bullock and his wife our doing a flat inspection of all the flats in our mission. Ours is tommorrow. This morning though our landlord rang us up and said he was coming over to fix our house. We have been bugging him since Sister Bullock told us too. I think what made him actually do it was the flat inspection tommorrow. So he showed up with a whole crew of men and they are painting and just doing everything. The only problem is we won't have time to really clean. But hopefully we can figure something out.

We have quite an interesting new investigator. His name is Vincent. We had set 2 appointments before, which he didn't show up for. But this time he did. It turns out he is a wicha. Or in other words a witch. But we taught the restoration and it was so powerful, the spirit was just very strong. Afterward, he said he had a lot of pondering to do.

Also, our ward mission leaders wife is not a member. Her name is Loraine and won't take the lessons, but is refferred to as a dry member. Meaning she does everything, even visiting teaching, but won't get baptized. But she has really been opening up to us and is now talking about when she gets baptized. So hopefully, that will happen. We talked about Emma Smith with her. It was really cool.

Thank you so much for the emails and the support you give me mom. It sounds like you are doing wonderful. I did get Karens emails, but I can't read them. I wish I could. But the rules are the same. I can send them to you and you can print them off and send them in letter form or she can write me a letter. But tell her I love her and thank you. And I will try to write her soon. I love you.

Love, Sister coleman
